It is Christmas and time to reflect on the year past. For people our age, you would expect a slower and more relaxed pace. We still have not learned this lesson. We are still in the jet set.
- We go to Haiti an irregular schedule – Berry to keep her clinic going and Peter to handle odd tasks. The clinic is doing very well, with kudos from Haitians and visiting Americans, but this comes at a price. The need grows daily, and the supply doesn't keep up. But we roll along, never give up the dream. The Lord will provide.
- Peter took Ben Sellers, a young doctor-to-be to get him settled for a year's work in the field. He is doing very well. Peter was also the appointed representative of Bethlehem Ministry at the Esperance et Vie NGO meeting in May. This helps grow the Haitian involvment in the work.
- On July 14, 2011, the city of Paris celebrated Bastile day – their day of independence, and Will Rice, our esteemed grandson, celebrated his 14th birthday. This all took place in Paris. Our trip with him included London, Paris and Toulouse with trips to the Mediterranian and other places nearby. Will reports that his favorite place was London, but he enjoyed speaking French (the language he has been studing in school since kindergarten) in Paris. Berry enjoyed showing Will where she stayed while studying for her DMin in Oxford.
- Thanksgiving in Yosemite park: it was our trip to the west coast to hang with grandchildren Will and Nathan. (William has decided that he will be Will.) The site was magnificent, quiet, colorful and lots of opportunities for outdoor activities. Will, Nathan and Peter spent the better part of one day exploring Mirror Lake, middling about in streams and looking for mountain lions.
- We were hesitant to commit to a vist to a place where you walk a lot since Berry had a total right knee replacement in August. But it worked, she recovered fast enough to get around, and is getting better every day with help from her favorite therapist, Trey Scott.
- Who, by the way, along with is wife Anna, just replaced Peter as executive directors of Bethlehem Ministry. Peter should have taken the opportunity to scale back, but instead he is now on two other non-profit boards and serving on the vestry at church. And he sings in the choir.
- Berry is still associate pastor of Hill First Baptist where she serves every Sunday (unless she is in Haiti).
